Description

This first nautical atlas in history served perfectly the purposes of invasion or plundering of the enemy coasts that the respective armadas of Philip II and Elizabeth I held for decades. It offered the navigator everything he needed to know about the type of coast he was facing: profile, anchorages, distance between the main geographical points. Here, the SE coast of England, representing the sea area and adjacent coastal regions of East Anglia, between the mouth of the Thames and the city of Herwich, in Essex, passing through the mouths of the Crouch, Blackwater, Stour, and Orwell.
