This exhibition reveals the identities of the Irish Catholic exiles who studied at the University of Valladolid from 1585 to 1660, in addition to that of those who completed their degrees from 1700 and through to 1781. It displays 64 entries from 15 registration books. Each entry identifies the student's name, diocese of origin in Ireland, their priestly or lay status, the studies that they were enrolling for or the degrees that they obtained. The evidence is particularly enlightening in the years surrounding the establishment of the Valladolid Irish College (1588-1591), following Kinsale and the transferral of the Court to the city (1601-1606), and coinciding with the Commonwealth of England (1640-1660).

The exhibition's point of departure was the research work undertaken by Paula das Neves Monsalvo in the course of her period as research assistant at the English Department of the Universidad de Valladolid (2019-2020). She worked under the supervision of Anunciación Carrera de la Red and with the financial support of the Spanish Ministry of Science, Education and Innovation.

Since 2020, research has been founded with the support of the Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación, Gobierno de España: Misiones y Transmisiones: Intercambios entre la Península Ibérica y las Islas Británicas en la época moderna extensa (PID2020-113516GB-I00).

This virtual exhibition reconstructs the return journey that Charles Stuart, Prince of Wales, made from the Spanish Court to England in September 1623, following the failed negotiation of his marriage to Philip IV's sister, the Infanta Maria. It gathers for the first time archival documents and printed relaciones that bring to light the itinerary followed and illuminate the understanding of the main events, as well as the sway that they may have had upon the ensuing break-up of Anglo-Spanish relations immediately after Charles I of England's coronation.
