A former student at the University of Salamanca, Aug 1584-Mar 1588 ('Daniel Hiferniano, de la diócesis de Stumia en el reino de Yrlanda'); received a yearly allowance from that University; Fray Luis de León reported his bringing certificates from Rome and other places.
