Title
Antonio de Herrera's Segunda parte Historia general del mundo (1601). Pp. 270-271
Description
The help that Philip II of Spain gave to Ireland (and the rebels against Queen Elizabeth) of protection and financing, never assured him the domination of the island that would smooth his way toward the invasion of England. As in this episode of 1580, every time he sent support troops, he failed. After the Peace of London was signed with England, Spain repeatedly ignored Ireland's requests for help. Spanish relations to the island were always subordinated to those maintained with England.
